Safeguarding Policy

Last updated: July 2026

1. Our Commitment

Auschidys Disability Africa is fully committed to the protection and safety of all children, persons with disabilities, and vulnerable adults who participate in or are affected by our programmes. The welfare of beneficiaries is our highest priority.

2. Scope

This policy applies to all staff, volunteers, board members, contractors, and partners who work with or on behalf of Auschidys in any capacity.

3. Principles

  • Every person has the right to live free from abuse, neglect, and exploitation.
  • Safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility — all personnel are obligated to act on concerns.
  • Confidentiality is maintained appropriately, but never used to conceal abuse.
  • Persons with disabilities have equal rights to protection and must not face additional barriers to reporting.

4. Prohibited Conduct

  • Physical, emotional, sexual, or financial abuse of any beneficiary or programme participant.
  • Taking photographs or video of beneficiaries without informed consent from the individual (or guardian).
  • Sharing identifiable images or stories of beneficiaries on personal social media without authorisation.
  • Any form of discrimination based on disability, gender, age, religion, or ethnicity.

5. Reporting a Concern

If you witness or suspect abuse, neglect, or a safeguarding breach involving Auschidys programmes or personnel, please report immediately:

Reports are treated with strict confidentiality and investigated promptly and impartially.

6. Training & Compliance

All Auschidys staff and volunteers receive safeguarding orientation before commencing work. Annual refresher training is mandatory. Failure to comply with this policy may result in disciplinary action, termination, and referral to relevant authorities.

7. Review

This policy is reviewed annually by the Auschidys Board of Directors. The current version is effective from July 2026.
